During his or her time at Bamburgh School, your child will be following an individual pathway through each curriculum subject, depending on his or her aptitudes and abilities.
To find out what your child will be studying in 2021 22, first use the list below to find out which Stage (for primary classes) or Year (for secondary classes) your child’s class is working at, and also the Pathway for your child’s class (there are 3 possible pathways: Core, Core+ or Core++).
Bluebell Class following EY Curriculum for all subjects
Honeysuckle Class following EY Curriculum for all subjects
Daisy Class following Stage 2 Core Pathway for all subjects
Holly Class following Stage 3 Core Pathway for all subjects
Hawthorn Class following Stage 3 Core + Pathway for all subjects
Sycamore Class following Stage 4 Core Pathway for all subjects
Willow Class following Stage 5 Core Pathway for all subjects
Mulberry Class following Stage 6 Core Pathway for all subjects
7AM following Year 7 Core Pathway for all subjects
7JC following Year 7 Core + Pathway for all subjects
8CW following Year 8 Core Pathway for all subjects
8DH following Year 8 Core + Pathway for all subjects
9JS following Year 9 Core Pathway for all subjects
9AMT following Year 9 Core + Pathway for all subjects
(In Years 10 and 11, pathways for individual pupils are linked to the final exam that he or she is are working towards and not the class group. Your child’s form tutor can give you details of your child’s individual pathway on request)
For all pupils up to Year 9, once you know your child’s Stage/Year and Pathway, open the Curriculum Map for the subject that you are interested in, and look at the row on the chart which shows this Stage/Year and Pathway. This row will give you details of the topics/units taught to your child’s class group in 2021 22.
For example, if your child is in Holly Class this year, then they will be studying the units shown for the Stage 3 Core Pathway. This means that, in Science, he or she would first study Light and Shadow, then Magnets and Forces and, finally, Rocks and Soils.
