At Bamburgh School we pride ourselves on our range of therapies which enhance our pupils’ development and learning.
Therapies and Wider Support
We have external experts who visit our pupils to work in their area of specialism, as well as some staff in-house, who enable us to support in a range of ways.
Occupational Therapy – Mr Carr is our in-house practitioner. He works with groups and individuals, observing, leading sessions, tracking milestones and supports teaching and learning in a unique way. Speech and Language – we are supported via the NHS Speech and Language therapists, and also have an in-house HLTA, Mrs Wallbank who champions speech and language across School, building communication tools and techniques.Physiotherapy – this is provided by NHS Physiotherpists who visit School regularly.
Moving and Handling support is coordinated by our in-house colleague Mrs Wyatt. Her area of expertise and her skillset enables her to be hands on to support the varying needs of our pupils. She works alongside other staff in-house who ensure daily needs are met. Mrs Wyatt is also looking at wider areas such as Rebound.
Music Therapy – Miss Rous joins us two days a week to give access to this unique therapy. She is a Nordoff and Robbins professional.
Relationships – we have our in-house Relationship Lead, Mrs Hornby. She is our home-to-school contact who liaises with parents, pupils, outside agencies and the wider community.
Counselling – Miss Lascelles is our in-house counsellor. She gives access to a listening ear for pupils right across School. She supports with a range of issues and is available each day for drop-ins as well as pre-arranged sessions.
